History of Andorra

The history of Andorra is clouded with mystery as although the valleys of Andorra have been inhabited for many years, there is not much documented evidence. The Principality of Andorra was formed in 1278 but it's history goes back further into the past. It is believed that previously, a Charter was granted to Andorra by Charles the Great, also known as Charlemagne. It is also believed that Charlemagne granted the Charter in return for the Andorran people fighting against the Moors.

Geography of Andorra

Andorra is situated in the Pyrenees so it is not surprising that the landscape is of rugged mountains. Andorra's highest mountain is Coma Pedrosa which is situated in the northwest of Andorra. This peak is ideal for those who love mountain climbing.

Climate of Andorra

Andorra has an average of 300 days of sunshine. It's high altitude means that it tends to have more snow than it's neighbours, France and Spain and lower humidity. The summers are also slightly cooler than the French and Spanish Pyrenees.
